When someone calls and asks, “Do you have a pilot for that crane?” – we instantly know what they mean. In technical documentation, it’s a pendant control, but in everyday talk, it’s usually just the pilot.
And that makes perfect sense – just like a TV remote, it lets you control the machine easily... only the machine’s a bit bigger :D
